It’s Thursday night the 3rd at 8:30 PM. I just
got home from my second 12+hour day doing inventory at the Word Shop (the
bookstore at our church where I work) and I remembered I need to post to The Barn
Door.
So, this is going to be a quick catch up on what’s been
happening since I was here with you on the 18th.
We survived doomsday the 21st. In fact, around
here it was an above average day. It was an amazing day. Wigglie #8 arrived
three weeks early. Mama, Daddy, siblings and baby are all doing fine.

We finally got our first measurable snow two days after
Christmas. Now that we have snow I want to do Christmas all over again.
But, for Farmer the snow is not his friend. He totally
dislikes the snow and cold and all that goes with it.
This semi load of straw that was not able to back up to the commodity barn without someone helping reinforces his dislike. It’s so much more work for him.
But, I choose to see the beauty in winter.
Every week I keep telling myself that things will slow down
and get back to normal. I’m pretty sure there is no normal anymore.
I hope you enjoy these pictures I captured after the snow.

I think every farm has a rock pile. This is one of ours. And for you non-farmers out there this doesn't appear without a lot of back breaking work, These are rocks that we walk through the field picking up, throwing into a bucket tractor and then dump. They need to be removed to plant fields.
While we were back there we were burning a few things and we were watching the fire and Farmer turned around and saw this beautiful sunset. I grabbed my camera and started snapping. The funny thing is it lasted only about 10 minutes and it was gone.
You can follow our regular scheduled chaos at www.afarmwife.com. That is if blogger clears up. This was finally put up after a lot of hoops were jumped through. Love and hate technology.

I just finished picking up holiday decorations around here - didn't do much this year, and certainly wouldn't have thought about decorating stalls, but, my, you make it so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI always love your pictures, Diane. We had a rock pile in Maine--I helped make it and it was hard work!! Love that hat on your newest wigglie! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! And I love that you mentioned the rock piles. We have quite a few of those which have served various purposes over the years. Forts for the kids, climbing mountains for the goats, flower bed borders... And every time I gather a rock or wander past on a walk, I think about all the labor it must've taken to make those piles. This year my son plowed up one of our field (first time it's been done in eons) and we started picking rocks. Boy could I relate to the past!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some snow. Congrats on the new family member. Loved the sunset photos! Does it seem to you that there have been more pink skies in the last year???
