Sewing with Family

Granddaughter sewing on a comfort before we arrived to visit at their home in California. Grandma was impressed.
Stitching carefully
Entering the project

And gaining the reward. Enjoying the comfort on their bed.
Grandma notices the girls are outgrowing their clothing. And decides to enlarge their patterns and make new skirts. Denim was requested (because it is easy to match with any top, Granddaughter said.)

I don't know when son-in-love took these two  pictures.
We purchased 12 yards of denim fabric and by the end of the trip the girls had 8 denim skirts to share. Knee length, mid calf and long. Granddaughters are wearing two pleated skirts. One brown denim and one navy. The rest hang in the archway.
The Granddaughters and Daughter made French Country Aprons.
Including one for me and for the doll.
Now husband and I are home in Ohio but we have our memories.
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time . . . Sharon A Lavy

  3. My grandmother always made me clothes and she also made up her own patterns. You would be such a great grandmother to have!

I used to sew a lot, but I have no area here in this house to set things up. Ah, sigh. Makes me wistful. I love the photos and thank your son-in-law for snapping those photos.

And those granddaughters are talented! Must've gotten some of that sew-gene from you.

Thanks for sharing a wonderful day.

  4. I wish I could sew, sometimes. Most of the time, I'm happy to enjoy those who've been allotted this gift. Such wonderful memories made with the family.

  5. What a treasured memory. I'm glad your son-in-love took the pictures. They are precious. DD and I are going to make a baby quilt soon. I can't wait. It's been a while since I've sewn.
