A Lesson About Seasons

Haven't used this much
My son is, well, a literalist. He loves to know exactly when something will start, how long it will be (to the minute, if possible), and when it will be over.

If I tell him he can be on my computer at 5:00, he will remind me when I have ten minutes left. And seven. And two. And when I am one minute late. He really likes predictability.

This winter season has been hard for him in this way. Winter, in the Midwest anyway, means snow. Right?

This year - not so much. He's scarcely needed his snow pants, and earlier this week, he didn't even need boots. The ground was DRY. Unheard of in our neck of the woods - especially in February. And he knows this - after all, he's lived through ten previous winters. And he remembers details like that.

So, still he asks if he needs to wear his snow pants just about every day. And maybe, some time this month, the answer will be "yes."

Or maybe we'll get us a snowstorm in July. Honestly - this would only surprise me a little bit.

It seems like much of the country is experiencing an extremely mild winter! We've had temps in the 60's for several days in Jan. & Feb. this year. Very unusual! But I'm not complaining! I'm ready for spring. But I do hope your son gets to see some snow soon!
